Over the course of two days, we are going to together learn tools on how you can lower triggers and self-regulate your nervous system to reduce anxiety and PTSD.

Working with the nervous system can help you to regain a sense of calm and safety after trauma. When you feel safe, you are in the social engagement state, allowing yourself to feel more connected to the world around you.

The sympathetic nervous system (SNS) protects you by activating the fight, flight or freeze response. This is what gets activated immediately in a trauma response. For trauma, (yes, we are trauma survivors), we are now living in that state of hyperarousal. This part of the nervous system can stay activated and be in overdrive long-term.

Which is why you may feel symptoms including, but not limited to: irritability or aggression, risky or destructive behavior, hypervigilance, heightened startle reaction, difficulty concentrating, and difficulty sleeping.

Hyperarousal can be characterized by:

  • Pervasive jittery feelings
  • Always being on the lookout for peril
  • General irritability
  • Becoming angry instantaneously
  • Getting startled by loud noises
  • Paranoia
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Inability to concentrate or focus on one thing

Hyperarousal is a primary side effect of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It occurs when a your body suddenly kicks into high alert as a result of thinking about their trauma. Even though real danger may not be present, their body acts as if it is, causing lasting stress after a traumatic event.

This makes us feel panicky or filled with anxiety.

This can lead to a constant sense of suspicion and panic. Paranoia and irritability can set in very quickly, as well as an inability to go to sleep. Depending on how severely you experience hyperarousal, your whole life can be affected by it.

According to this study

Being in this state of arousal leads to physical chronic pain, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, obesity and cardiovascular disease. It can also lead to depression and chronic stress.

So your physical health is being impacted by this state.

The estimated out-of-pocket cost of this is $19,630 per individual, that is after insurance, from the latest 2022 economic study.

Besides the financial ramifications of being stuck in this, it is also costing you:

  • Jobs
  • Job opportunities
  • Relationships with partners, kids, family
  • Relationships with friends.
  • Your own personal happiness
  • Your physical health

...to name a few of what it is costing you.

So on the flip-side, what are the benefits of regulating?

Nervous system regulation allows you to maintain homeostasis, access restorative sleep, decrease inflammation, and is involved in memory, auditory processing, learning, controlling sensory processing and so much more.

It is relief.

How do those benefits show up for us?

  • Come down from stress naturally
  • Go to sleep peacefully and wake-up in the morning feeling rested and refreshed
  • Absorb healthy nutrition for all the cellular needs (think about cells in your gut sucking up the good vitamins and minerals and also excreting toxic waste products (um, poop!) with ease and frequency
  • Repair and regenerate your cells and body tissue at a harmonious speed that isn’t too slow and isn’t too fast, but is JUST right for your own unique needs
  • Think and create with crystal clear focus and not always be stuck in a "brain-fog"
  • Be productive in the projects, work and tasks you do on any given day
  • Steer away from harmful people who create chaos and strife in your life
  • Parent with greater ease, better boundaries and more empathy (even in those really tough times!)
  • Engage in meaningful relationships that nurture and provide safety for you

This means even though we might experience mental or emotional pain, it is rooted in our body’s physiology and how we were wired from the start to handle stress, which is usually a clever combination of being somewhat anxious and on guard (fight/flight aka survival energy), or, shutdown, depressed and numbed out (that freeze survival energy).

Who can participate:

Anyone. If you have a body AND you have/had cancer, you need this workshop.

Because of the complex trauma that we endure, our odds of developing PTSD as a result are pretty likely.

There is more than one way to regulate the nervous system. Inside this 2-Day Workshop.

  • I will cover in depth all the ways to regulate your nervous system
  • Teach you techniques to regulate your nervous system
  • We will talk about what you have been doing might be wrong, and why even though you may be doing some of these techniques, “It’s still not working."
  • You will learn how supporting yourself in this way lowers your triggers (not thinking every ache and pain is worst case scenario)
  • You will learn how to lower your PTSD
  • As a bonus, you will leave with “30 Ways in 30 Days to Lower your PTSD & Anxiety” Guide to self-regulate for cancer survivors.

This 2-Day Workshop is on February 20th & 21st at 6:00pm (EST).

Yes, it will be recorded.

Yes, you will access the recordings to watch again later!
